Help me give my students materials to supplement and enhance our school's new cooking room to help us teach health, nutrition, life skills, and culture.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I work in an equity focus early childhood center with approximately 300 preschool-aged students. Our school recently set up a cooking classroom in order to help teach our students life skills, nutrition, healthy habits, and connect with learning about holidays, cultures, and other aspects of the curriculum. We are still working to enhance the space with materials to make their time in the cooking room more meaningful and effective.
We are asking for your help to support our cooking room with materials to make it more sanitary, efficient, and meaningful.
Since our wonderful custodial staff is hired to clean classrooms after the school day ends except in the case of emergencies, we are in need of additional cleaning supplies to help us keep the space clean and sanitary throughout the day. We could also use larger cookie sheets in order to be able to bake a class's worth of items at once and disposable plates and silverware to serve multiple classes together. Finally, having a bluetooth speaker available will allow teachers to add an auditory element to their cooking and food lessons. This could be especially meaningful when learning about food from various cultures. We appreciate your generosity in helping make this a reality for our students!
