Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My Academic Decathlon team has it all. They have brains. They have motivation. They have camaraderie. Every year for the past 9 years, they have performed well at the regional meet (oftentimes taking first place) and have advanced to the state competition.

The only thing that my decathletes don't have is a backpack as strong as their work ethic.

These backpacks will be embroidered with our school name and students' names to provide a practical solution to carrying around massive amounts of resources guides, highlighters, and other materials.

Providing each student on our team with backpacks seems like a small gesture, but it is one way to make our students (who come from homes with less money than most other state-contending students) feel pride and a sense of belonging to the team.
