This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Middle school students love to experience things they can see and understand. In this multi-content area unit, the students will view powders and liquids under the magnification of a microscope and then use the digital camera eyepiece to record their reactions and solutions. The photos and videos will become part of their end of unit digital presentations.

Chemical reactions, and the structure and properties of matter are essential components of middle school core ideas.

Learning about these with the materials in their hands to make videos in stead of watching someone else's video is meaning-making on a whole new level.

The students then use these skills to solve a crime, organize the evidence and hold a trial to bring the perpetrator to justice.
