Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Are you looking for a way to make an impact that will benefit thousands of teenagers? Our award winning school based mental health program is an amazing social emotional support on campus. We spread mental health awareness and education school wide through our multitiered system of support. This includes one week each month dedicated to providing SEL presentations in the classrooms with rotating themes for approximately 250 kids. These presentations ensure that on top of learning about core academic subjects, Students are also learning practical life skills to regulate their emotions and prepare themselves for life after high school. We also host a booth out in the middle of the quad on campus once a month for "Wellness Wednesday". All students are invited to stop by before school on late start days to practice calming themselves down through acts of mindfulness. Recently, our program has also added a tutorial block once per month called "Fun Fridays". 30 kids have to opportunity to sign up and attend this event during the day to deregulate by utilizing sensory materials, games, and art supplies.
With these resources, nearly 2,000 Students will have access to fun and engaging activities to help increase their coping skills and have healthy outlets to manage stress.
This variety of supplies will help students to take a break and practice some much needed self care. The DIY projects, team building games, and crafting supplies will aid in promoting calmness, creativity, and connection for all students at our school! Thank you so much for your support.
