My Project

I work with students with special needs. In my OT room I have a sensory corner. This is a safe space my students can come to reset and calm down. I have opened this area to the entire school to use as well. As an occupational therapist we help students with their fine motor skills, handwriting skills, keyboarding skills, visual motor skills, sensory needs and so much more! We help our students build their independence and improve these skills, while building strength and endurance in their muscles. When supporting a variety of disabilities and students with needs you need to keep it fun. every student is different and one might enjoy an activity that another will not. It's always good to a have a variety of choices. My students would love these items to work on their handwriting with. As well as adding these awesome items to their sensory corner.

My main goal is to help my students with their sensory needs.

Create a place where they can take a break and use every day. I want to use different toys and acitivties to help improve their fine motor skills to help with handwriting and their activities of daily living.

My students deserve the world and more. My students are special because they teach me every day; to slow down, to be patient, to enjoy the simple things in life, to smile more, and to spread as much love as possible to all of those around me. Special needs kids are so important to me, and they will always have a special place in my heart. I wiIl always be their voice.
