My Project

One of our integrated mathematics study units is to help students develop an appreciation of financial literacy and our friendly community at an early age.

My students are curious about the world around them and are aware of the different races, cultures, and ethnicities in our local community.

Our classroom has students from multiple cultural backgrounds who enjoy learning and sharing as a team. They love the types of fidget toys and cubes I requested in this project. All these items will be placed in our class treasure box and students set a price for each. Then, students will earn classroom points for doing different community services at school, such as reusing or recycling water bottles, picking up trash on the playground, helping a student, and cleaning up lunch tables. Then, they could use their points to buy, sell or exchange any items from the treasure box with a classmate.

Participating in community services, learning about inclusion equality, and financial literacy skills early in students' lives could help them appreciate our differences and similarities!
