Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am reaching out in hopes of assisting my entrepreneurship and marketing students. My students have multiple student based enterprises on campus in order to learn life skills and real world experience. One of these enterprises is a food truck that my students run. Although this is a wonderful opportunity, our food truck has some issues, one being that our fridge is too small. The items do not all fit in the mini fridge, so purchasing a larger fridge that could stay in my classroom would help. We are also lacking signage, so having a sandwich board would help get the word out. Also a wagon would help us transport items. The money from the food truck gets reinvested to purchase more inventory and any profit goes to a classroom trip and will go towards building up our DECA program.
Acquiring the items I am requesting will help my students gain practical business knowledge including customer service skills, money handling skills, teamwork, marketing, and management skills.
Some final items that would help further this learning experience for my students would be the following:
1. A money counting machine so my students can participate in cash audits
2. A Cricut and sublimation printer so my students can create their own t-shirts and stickers. We currently purchase t-shirts, but would benefit from making them ourselves in terms of cost, and by gaining experience. This could become another class project, and would allow for collaboration with other departments on campus.
3. A popcorn machine for special events like movie nights on campus. A dedicated popcorn machine would help us serve a larger group of people.
